|The Name, The Places, The Branches|
Several years ago I became interested in family history, however I quickly hit a problem with my 3x great grandfather, John Micklethwaite, born about 1805 - I couldn't identify his parents. So I started to collect information about Micklethwaites in the Huddersfield area where he lived. Over the years, this has developed into a One Name Study, expanding outwards across Yorkshire, then England, and now covering the whole world. This site presents much of the information I have collected. Click on the links below or on the menu to the left to find out more.
Every few months I write a newsletter and send it to researchers interested in the Micklethwaite/Mickelwait name. I write an occasional blog on family history matters of interest, and I have longer articles on my features page. I have also created a Facebook closed group where we can share research. Contact me for details of any of these.
Along the way, I have been helped by many whose assistance is gratefully acknowledged - in particular Pat Smith, Roland Haigh, Ann Simcock, and the Crich WEA FH group who have taught me much about genealogy. I am also very grateful to John Micklethwait, Geoff Phillipson and the multitude of Micklethwait(e) relatives who have given me information and help.
